Lake Day 2026
Lake Day went much better than last year thanks to the good weather. The yearly event is an opportunity right at the beginning of the year for new and old students alike to form bonds with their peers and teachers. Traditional activities include swimming, volleyball, chatting, and melting.
Some students chose to stay dry, citing lake water concerns as their reason. If brain-eating amoebas are a concern for you, I might suggest a dip in the colder months. For those who did not even think to be concerned about this, don’t let me ruin your fun but maybe avoid diving. The volleyball tournament was won by Pelham Review + Tom Freitas. Tom subbed in for Timothy Katz according to a source that does not wish to be quoted.
If you were looking for a more scenic place to lounge around the lake, look no further than the newly renovated beach. The beach was looking pretty “shabby” and now features a terrace design. Some students have expressed their concern over the allocation of funding on frivolous construction projects, while others demand more beautification or at least support it.
If all the festivities left you feeling a bit hungry, look no further than the burgers and chips cooked up by our faculty and students. They worked tirelessly this year next to a hot grill to give us a classic American grilled-food-next-to-a-body-of-water-experience.
Students from years prior might have noticed a waterslide-sized hole in their hearts. The rationale behind this is that the rental fee is too high, especially considering the number of holes that typically come in the inflatable. This seems understandable.
All in all, the event was fun, memorable, and intentional. On behalf of the student body, I would like to thank the COR, Mr. Colvin, and the maintenance team who cleaned the lake for the effort that was put into this year’s Lake Day.
